In Real Life instead of on screens.
It only takes 25-30% of a community to shift a cultural norm⁽¹⁾. This pledge is intended to do just that by demonstrating that families across our town are creating a new “everyone else is doing it” narrative.
Only your child’s First Name, Last Initial will appear (for privacy) but it’s enough to recognize friends in the grade and see proof that you are not alone. As you do in so many other ways, you are pledging to give your kid the best possible childhood.
One way to make it easier to hold out is by choosing a kid-safe phone which avoids the danger and distractions of smart phones. You can absolutely give your child a basic phone and still honor the spirit of this pledge.
